RANIA AL JABBAN: She is a Professor and Department Chair in the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus, Syria/ Department of Dramatic Studies, where she has been since 2015.

She is a Professor in the General Cinema Corporation in Damascus/ Filmmaking Diploma, since 2017.

She is also a member of the board of directors of the Middle East Academy of Media since 2013, and a Professor of scenario for the first year since 2018.

She is a founder, manager and owner of the Drama Road Center for technical training and qualification programs (courses in filmmaking, script writing, acting classes, editing, production / post-production).

She holds a Ph.D. from the Academy of Arts, Cairo, Egypt 2010 in Dramatic Literature and an MA in Drama and Theatre Criticism from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Syria 2008. She obtained her certificate in Theatre Literature from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, Cairo, Egypt 2000 and her Bachelor study in Economics from the University of Damascus,1999.

She has been the Deputy General Manager of Emaar Alsham Production Company, from 2016 until March 2019. As well, she served as a script, drama consultant and author in the Syrian International Production Company for many series, from 2011 until 2016.

From 2011 to 2014, she served as a script consultant for more than 250 drama series and films that produced and broadcast in the Arab world, such as Chaos by Sara Fattahi, short film/ Coffee and a Cemetery by Nadine Habel, and drama series/ Masafat ‘Aman – Safe Distance by Laith Hajo.

Al Jabban is a film and script mentor, essentially on feature-length creative films. She is also a tutor on students’ graduating projects and for young filmmakers.

She is supervising a number of writing workshops in the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus in cooperation with several French workshops. She has also published numerous essays on Syrian cinema and Theatre and Drama Studies and researches in, as well as in a number of edited volumes on Arab cinema history.
