Join us for two compelling evenings of dialogue and film presented by The NGO International Film & Knowledge Forum in partnership with Macaulay Honors College, commemorating the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women.
We begin with a powerful table discussion titled “How Women’s Stories Can Rewrite the Rules of Power & Safety.” This timely conversation will explore how centering women’s lived experiences, especially in contexts of conflict and crisis, can challenge dominant narratives, reshape policy conversations, and redefine what security truly means. Designed to be intimate and engaging, the discussion invites participants to reflect, exchange ideas, and consider how storytelling itself can become a force for structural change.
The following evening, we gather for a special screening of Mothers of Chibok, the acclaimed film by Joel ‘Kachi Benson, followed by a live Q&A with the director. Marking the 10th anniversary of Boko Haram’s abduction of 276 schoolgirls from Chibok, Nigeria, the film offers a deeply moving portrait of four mothers who continue to fight for their daughters’ futures through resilience, advocacy, and unwavering hope. Their stories illuminate not only loss, but extraordinary courage and determination.
Together, these events create a powerful space to listen, learn, and engage —honoring women’s voices while examining the global systems that shape their lives.

Synopsis:
A community of mothers in a Nigerian village struggle to persevere while grieving for their daughters, who were kidnapped by Boko Haram. Intertwining the stories of multiple families, the filmmakers show how life continues in the wake of unspeakable horror. At once cinematically gripping and emotionally stirring, this story of endurance shows the ongoing personal ramifications of an event long forgotten by the news media.
