Alessia Antognelli

Rome University of Fine Arts

As part of the NGO International Film Festival’s educational initiative is the Student Review Programme(SRP) that is geared towards the inclusion of university students in global topics, addressing it and finding innovative solutions. It is also an avenue for students to interact, learn, watch films, and exchange tested solutions. Furthermore, students are mentored by global industry experts who will spend time reviewing their writing pieces. This is primarily a writing exercise that encourages critical thinking and evaluation.

This year, four universities participated from Africa, Europe and North America. Ms.Alessia Antognelli, a student at Rufa – Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA), has been awarded the Top Student among the first cohort of this programme. Mentored by Mr. Micheal Bronner, The BAFTA and EMMY Nominee Writer & Producer; She (Ms Antognelli) wrote a review on the film dubbed ‘Education for Life and Peace’ by Larisa Rojas which was screened during the Festival held in Nairobi, Kenya from 19th to 21st October 2022.

Her selection as a top student was influenced by her work ethics, dedication and captivating interest, efficient communication, completion and delivery of work at set times, and writing prowess. ‘Alessia did not only show an interest, she saw an opportunity to showcase and nurture her desire to write and tell stories.

We need more writers with courage like Alessia’ said Taye Balogun (Festival Director). She will be granted full participation in the 2023 festival with a return flight ticket, accommodation and welfare as compensation for her commitment.

THENGOIFF (The NGO International Film Festival) and RUFA (Rome University of Fine Arts) signed a memorandum of understanding in late November, 2022 to establish a continuous partnership that advances art education and international development in a way that positions artists as change makers.
